Jurassic Park
Ever since Unreal Tournament 2003, I'd made hilariously ambitious attempts to create replicas of Jurassic Park's Isla Nublar, at least in part, as maps. The desire was of course there all the way back to the original Unreal Tournament, but the technology wasn't exactly. At least not to the fidelity I wanted, so I don't think I ever made much headway back then. :)
The UT2003 map didn't amount to a whole lot. It did have the exterior of the visitor center and a little bit of the rotunda and dining room, the raptor paddock, some fence, and a custom drivable Jeep, but it was otherwise pretty depressingly empty. I think I also made an attempt in UDK (the free "development kit" of Unreal Engine 3), but I don't remember how far that went. Then Unreal Engine 4 came along, and it finally looked like I, much like John Hammond himself, could achieve my dream of having nearly the whole island (although at more of the smaller scale of the island in the book rather than the movie). Of course, just because I have the technology to support an enormous map does not mean I have the ability to populate it!
I had to pull the double duty of not only 3D modeling every little thing seen in the movie, but also researching what the heck it was to begin with in order to make the most accurate one I could! This was of course extremely time-consuming, and, despite having been 3D modeling since the '90s, I'm not a particularly fast or good modeler to begin with. :)
This is a sampling of what I had achieved with graphics built in LightWave 3D and assembled as a sort of virtual tour of Jurassic Park in Unreal Engine 4. My efforts died off around the time that I switched to Linux (circa 2017) for a couple reasons:
Using Unreal Engine 4 on Linux was annoying. They don't provide a build of it, so I had to build it myself for every new update I cared to try, which isn't the end of the world by any means, but it also acted janky at times—sometimes in ways that I think were kind of show-stoppers. It's been years now, so I don't remember exactly what, but I recall flickering and perhaps geometry disappearing and reappearing.
And more detrimentally, my 3D modeling suite of choice, LightWave 3D, didn't function correctly in WINE, and there's never been a native Linux version of it. This pretty much killed all forward momentum on this stupidly ambitious one-man hobby project.
Unfortunately, there was never really any one part that got finished. Everything is frozen in various states of completion.

It seems like the most recent version of this is slightly more finished looking, but I don't seem to have a picture of it, and I am not mentally prepared to go through the trouble of getting one.

The lab (2015)
All the lights in this map of the island were dynamic because I couldn't build static lighting even if I wanted to. The map was hilariously too large. One time when I attempted, the static light builder just screamed, jumped into its own grave, and pulled all the dirt in on itself. Shadowed lights shining through grated walkways look cool as heck, but dynamic shadowed lights are also very expensive. Some expense was spared, and we could apparently only afford a single grated walkway light. :P

SGI keyboard (2015)
The keyboards had to have the proper key labels. I'm pretty sure I even found the actual font for this model of keyboard. :)
I never did figure out why the engine always chose such low-res mip-maps for the SGI logo on this monitor mesh no matter how close the camera was.

I had the Jeep Blueprint setup so in the actor properties I could type in what number I wanted it to have, and it would change it on both plates, the sides, hood, and the mirror tag. There were also toggles for with and without soft top, roll bar, and tool boxes in order to make any configuration of Jeep seen in the movie.
The Furry Trio
A long time ago in an internet far, far away when I, my brother, and our brother-from-another-mother were just tiny babies with nothing but our pacifiers and ISDN lines, we were big fans of Sonic the Hedgehog. We had our own fan characters that doubled as our online personas—Blick, Sunny, and Wolf— that we dubbed the Furry Trio. As many Sonic fan characters tended to be, Blick and Sunny were basically just black and orange re-colored Sonic, respectively. They weren't distant cousins of Sonic's or any of that sort of typical fan character thing. They kind of just existed in the world. But we eventually decided we wanted these characters to be their own thing and so had to redesign them to distance them from their Sonic roots. Unfortunately, I never bothered to look up what the heck a hedgehog looks like and so these things were born. Wolf, however, kind of always looked like that. :P
They mostly ended up being used as joke characters and cannon fodder on The Lands of Meeriad or on holidays.
There exists a web site out there somewhere dedicated to them. I won't be providing a link, and I think its navigation bar was in Flash only. So good luck. :-)

My favorite characters from Skullgirls—Ms. Fortune and Cerebella. The idea I had for this started out years before as them kind of annoying each other: Fortune has stolen Cerebella's hat, and Cerebella has her in a headlock to deliver a revenge noogie. Unfortunately, I apparently lack the skill to satisfactorily pull off the chaotic interaction I envisioned between them while keeping them in proportion to each other as well as framing it in an interesting way. So after about eleventy bazillion failed sketches spread out over several years, I finally re-worked it into this, and I don't hate it. (2025)
I've since learned that Fortune's facial scar is only on one side of her face. Oops. It's too late now to delete it. Now we just have to live with it.

"No cheezburgers?" I was feeling frustrated by my drawings almost always working out to be these flat, uninteresting angles, so I wanted to try something more extreme than my usual. [Ms. Fortune/Skullgirls] (2026)
More coming?
Maybe I'll dig up some more stuff to put here some day, or maybe even draw new if my hand ever heals from the critical damage it sustained from playing old SNES games too much. :P
